We are recognized as a responsible social citizen, and we value giving back to the communities where we live and work. We don't view philanthropy as a once per year event, but are committed to giving back on a continuous basis.
Some of the organizations we support include:
UNITED WAY
Over the past four years, New York & Company has raised over $3 million for United Way. We have achieved this with the help of our 500 Brand Headquarters associates. We also sponsor a Corporate Match Program, which matches donations up to one dollar for every dollar donated. In addition, we offer quarterly volunteering events for our associates to help out in soup kitchens, child care centers and senior citizen communities.
BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION
Our merchandise is made for REAL women, and we feel that it's important to support causes that affect REAL women. Each September during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we sell a product in our stores and donate proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Through our partnership with the BCRF, we are working toward prevention and ultimately, a cure in our lifetime.
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
Heart Disease is another leading cause of death in women. Each February, we partner with the American Heart Association to sell a product in our stores and donate proceeds to the AHA. With our support, the AHA is able to work towards their mission of reducing disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and strokes.
ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
We are proud to announce our participation this coming holiday season in St. Jude Children's Hospital Thanks and Giving Program. In every one of our stores, customers will be able to make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital when making purchases at the register. All proceeds will go to St Jude to discover cutting-edge breakthroughs for kids with life-threatening illnesses. As a company that values family, we relate on a very personal level to the Thanks and Giving Program motto "Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life. And give to those who are not."
FACTORY MONITORING AND COMPLIANCE
Since the majority of our manufacturing is done overseas, we have developed and continuously administer a Labor Standards/Workplace Conditions Program for all of the factories with which we do business. In order to promote compliance, we communicate our expectations to suppliers, provide factory monitoring tools, provide factory employees training and education on compliance matters, share information on effective compliance practice and work with suppliers to ensure remediation in accordance with any corrective action plans that may be put in place.
